Diminished Reality (DR) is a technique to visually remove and see through undesired objects in an environment in the real time. DR as a new visualization technology can increase the efficiency and productivity in the AEC-FM industry by preventing inaccurate visualizations and removing visual distractions in the field of view. BIM data has a potential to assist DR as an external referencing source for rendering and background information retrieval. Therefore, BIM has been considered as a main source of digital representations of the physical environments in this research focus.
